Though our country got its independence on 15th August 1947,
it took some time, two and a half years to be precise, for our constitution to come into effect.

Our constitution came into full power from 26th January 1950,
from then, we started this tradition of celebrating 26th January as Republic Day which is a national day.

On this auspicious day, let us all remember those legends that sacrificed their lives for our well-being.

Let me let you know something about this special occasion.
Today we are celebrating 71st republic day of our nation.
It was started celebrating since 1950, two and half years later to the Independence of India in 1947.
We celebrate it every year on 26th of January as our constitution came into effect on the same day.
After getting independence from the British rule in 1947, India was not a self-ruled county means a sovereign state.
India became a self-goyeming country when its constitution came into effect in 1950.

प्रहरी बना हिमालय बैठा
धरा सोने की गागर है
भूमि ये अमर जवानों की है

रत्नों के भंडार भरे हैं
गाथा स्वर्णिम खानों की
सत्य, अहिंसा, शांति बाँटता
इसकी शान तिरंग़ा है
गोद खेलती नटखट नदियाँ
पावन यमुना- गंगा है
चंदन की माटी से महके
मातृभूमि को वंदन है

Good Morning Chief Guests, My teachers, Classmates, and other dignitaries on the stage. I would like to express my views on the importance of this auspicious occasion.

As we all know, our country got independence on 15th August 1947, from then onwards we are celebrating it as Independence Day. But the fact is that India isn’t completely free from Britishers by 1947. It took a while for our country to completely shift from sovereignty to Democracy.

On 26 January 1950 that our very own constitution came into force. From then onwards we started celebrating 26 January as republic day every year. It is under the leadership of those great souls, we could achieve the feat of ‘Largest Democratic Country in the World’. Legends like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Tanguturi Prakasam Panthulu, Bhagath Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose are a few people who shed their blood for the freedom we are enjoying today. Let us all bow our heads to those legendary souls.

Let us also remember Dr. B.R Ambedkar sir for his contribution in writing the World’s largest written constitution with 448 articles in 25 parts and 12 schedules. It is because of these great people that we could breathe and live peacefully. In the name of those legends, I would like to wish you all a happy republic day 2021.

It is our duty to make their sacrifice count by being a responsible citizen of India. Let us all work hard for the empowerment of our country. Let us pledge to keep our country clean and healthy.
